The Shanghai Swans are the defending champions of the Global Champions League, and Zeidler Farm is proud to be a team partner in 2020! This year's team includes team members Margie Goldstein-Engle (USA), Max Kuhner (GER),Frank Schuttert (NED), Pius Schwizer (SUI), Alexandra Thornton (GBR), and U25 rider Lucas Porter (USA).
Margie Engle is an American rider with more than 200 Grand Prix wins under her belt. She has been named AGA Rider of the Year ten times, has been on more than 20 winning Nations Cup teams and was the 1991 AHSA Equestrian of the Year. In 1992, Engle was named the National Grand Prix League Rider of the Year, a feat she repeated in 1993. In 1999, Engle rode Hidden Creek’s Alvaretto to the team Silver medal at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, she was the highest placed woman and the highest placed U.S. rider in the individual competition riding Hidden Creek’s Perin to a tenth-place tie, also earning a Team Gold and Individual Bronze medal at the 2003 Pan American Games. She was a part of the U.S. Silver medal team at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games aboard Hidden Creek’s Quervo Gold. She has most recently represented the United States on multiple Nations Cup Teams.
Max Kuhner rides internationally for Austria and placed 6th individually at the Tryon World Equestrian Games in 2018. At the age of 18, Max was already the holder of the golden riding badge and shortly afterwards also in the German national squad of young riders. From 2012 to 2014 Max served as equestrian spokesman for the FEI. There he represented the global interests of all show jumpers in the Jumping Committee, the department responsible for international show jumping at the FEI. Today he is still on the board of the IJRC, the International Jumping Riders Club.
Lucas Porter is an American show jumper who has seen great success all across the United States, Canada and Europe. In 2014, he won the gold medal at the North American Junior Championships aboard Phineas. He now competes internationally under the guidance of Jeroen Dubbeldam.
Frank Schuttert is a Belgian team member whose professional riding career began under Jos Lansink in Meewen in Belgium. In 2013, Frank won the Young Riders European Championships and competed in 4 Nations Cups, also winning the Grand Prix of Amsterdam that made him become the “Talent of the Year”. He won his first LGCT Grand Prix in Valkenswaard in 2018 in front of his home crowd that selected him for the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix of Prague where he got the bronze medal.
Pius Schwizer is a Swiss Show Jumper and has represented his country in two Olympic Games, winning a Team Bronze in 2008, and four European Championships, winning Team Gold in 2009, and is a regular on the Swiss Nations Cup team. Pius now counts winning the European Championship with his Swiss team among his greatest career achievements.
Alexandra Thornton, a rider for Great Britain, made a name for herself on the Florida circuit and at various European shows. Alexandra competed at the 2009 North American Young Riders Championship, Lexington where she finished 8th individually. Her first big win came in 2010, when she became the first Junior rider to win the CSI2* Le Vaudreuil Grand Prix. In 2011, Alexandra switched from US to UK nationality and the following year she was selected for her first Senior Nations Cup appearance in Copenhagen.
